As we stand at the precipice of the impending digital revolution there are a lot of articles about the impact future technology will have. My language is deliberately ominous in line with the tone of a lot of the articles I have read, particularly when it comes to the future of job security. Yes AI's, robots, machine learning and automation will have an impact on the types of jobs that are available. I personally hope it will be positive and allow people to shift and concentrate on the strategic and the creative rather than the mundane and repetitive. This recent article predicts the rise of the megacity as a safe haven for creative and middle management roles that will be more difficult for robots and AI's to perform. I am personally excited by the changes technologies are bringing. It may take some time to adjust but, from the glimpses of the tech I've been lucky enough to see, it is going to be worth it!
The robot takeover will start in the smaller cities. Towns and small cities have a smaller proportion of jobs that will be resilient to automation than larger urban centres, according to a new study.
