In the often hectic lives of a modern Digital Recruiter our days are consumed with an incredible amount of activity - KPIs, RTIs, KAMs, OTEs etc.. The list of 3 letter acronyms is almost endless! And lost in the blur of all that we often don't have the time or energy to reflect on what is truly important in life.

With that in mind, it was a rewarding and eye opening afternoon for the Salt HK team this week volunteering to help clean at the HK chapter of the Ronald McDonald House charity for children with cancer. A poignant insight into the lives of others with much more important and life threatening challenges to face - it certainly does help to put the minor trauma of a rejected offer into perspective.

These kids are often merely out of infancy, and already faced with a huge struggle. It was quite an honor for us to learn a bit more about the house there and the assistance it provides for these warriors. To also do our small bit to help was an enriching experience, definitely for me personally (and I'm sure for the rest of the team too) a good chance to reflect on how lucky we all are in comparison.

I've had some first hand experience with this as I have a nephew who was diagnosed with cancer as a teenager (he has since fully recovered), and this afternoon did help remind me of what he went through and also to consider how fortunate I am to be (reasonably) healthy.

So yep, in conclusion, a great afternoon out for the Salt HK team and a chance to return to our desks with perhaps just a bit of a fresh perspective on dealing with the relatively insignificant disappointments that are part and parcel of the life of a Digital Recruiter!
